During the production of Jaws, the boat that carried much of the camera and lighting equipment was so small and flimsy it was nicknamed the “S.S. Garage Sale.” Though its size often caused difficulty on set, movie producers did not want to buy another, leaving many cast and crew members to joke “you’re going to need a bigger boat” whenever something went wrong. Actor Roy Scheider ad-libbed the line during several scenes, one making it to the final cut.
