Shah Alam, city, western Peninsular (West) Malaysia. Shah Alam lies about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Kuala Lumpur and just east of Klang (Kelang). The city has an industrial estate where food and tobacco products are processed and electrical machinery, cement, chemical, and textile products are manufactured.
