The treatment of retinopathy depends on the cause and stage. In some instances, the condition resolves on its own. In others, it is handled with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors to slow the growth of abnormal blood vessels, laser treatment to seal leaky vessels or to create scars that shrink or slow vessel growth, or surgical procedures to remove vitreous or to reattach the retina.
