No. While several species of Mosasaurus appear in the fossil record, members of only one, M. hoffmanni, challenge the length of the largest megalodon specimens known—which measure 17.9 metres (58.7 feet) long. In contrast, the longest mosasaurs, based on a specimen of M. hoffmanni, are estimated to have been 17 meters (about 56 feet) in length.
