Shavuot occurs the day after 49 days (seven weeks) have elapsed following the second day of Passover. On the Hebrew calendar it is celebrated on the sixth and seventh days of the Hebrew month of Sivan (May or June) in the Jewish Diaspora and on the sixth day of Sivan in Israel.
