Romanian National Party

Romanian National Party, political organization formed in Transylvania in 1881, dedicated to obtaining autonomy for Transylvania within the Austro-Hungarian Empire, autonomy for Romanian churches, and the use of the Romanian language for administrative purposes. After circulating their demands in a public memorandum, the party leaders were condemned by the Hungarian government at the internationally observed Memorandum Trial, and the party was dissolved (1894).
