Rábida Island

Rabida Island

Rábida Island, one of the Galápagos Islands, in the eastern Pacific Ocean, about 600 miles (965 km) west of Ecuador. The island has an area of about 1 square mile (3 square km) and is studded with several small volcanic craters. Originally named for the 18th-century British admiral John Jervis, earl of St. Vincent, the island’s official Ecuadorian name is Isla Rábida. Rábida has a lagoon and a flamingo rookery as well as a population of sea lions. It also features a visitor center and a trail, but it is uninhabited by humans.
