Pete Hegseth was not a Navy Seal. However, he did serve in the military. He was a member of the Minnesota National Guide and later the Army National Guard, rising to the rank of major. He was deployed three times. After serving at Guantánamo Bay, he was a platoon leader in Iraq and then taught counterinsurgency tactics in Afghanistan.
