Secretariat is one of the fastest horses ever timed. In 1973 he set a series of records. Secretariat finished the Kentucky Derby in 1 minute 592/5 seconds, and he won the Belmont Stakes by an unprecedented 31 lengths and established the dirt-track record for a 1.5-mile race of 2:24. Secretariat also won the Preakness in an unprecedented time of 1:53, though the record was not recognized until 2012.
